Lifeguards - Summer 2009
|
This beach and ocean program
is taught by Laguna Beach Lifeguards and is both educational
and recreational. Participants will acquire a deeper appreciation
and understanding of the opportunities and hazards associated
with the marine environment. A sense of teamwork, sportsmanship,
and self-confidence will be instilled through competition
and exercises. Participants will learn about ocean safely,
first aid, rescue techniques, body and board surfing, beach
activities, fitness, and marine safety operations.
To ensure participation in
this program, swimming abilities is required. Participants
supply their own swimming fins (duck feet preferred), a
hat, SPF 30 sunscreen, towel, open shoes, drinking water,
and a backpack that will hold all gear. Girls must wear
one piece navy blue swimsuits. Participants bring lunch
on Thursdays.

Orientation -
Important!!
|
On the first Monday of each 3-week session,
Junior Guards and their parents/guardians meet at class
time for orientation at the Heisler Park-Shuffleboard
Courts.
During orientation, uniforms
(tee-shirt, rashguard, sweatshirt, and shorts) will be distributed and Junior Guards
will be assembled for a group photo at Main Beach. The group
photo will be distributed on the last day of each session.
Make every effort to attend the first day!
